Please note that by signing the Enrolment Form, you undertake to familiarise and comply with The College of Law Rules and Program requirements available in the Program Manual.
If you do not hold an Australian law degree, you need to check admission requirements.
If you are an overseas student on a study visa you must undertake the NSW on-campus program. This is the only CRICOS approved program.
Program Eligibility
To be eligible to enrol in the College's program you must be a graduate in law or qualified to graduate, or have undertaken all requirements other than PLT prescribed for admission as a lawyer.
Subject to the approval of the relevant admitting authority, you may apply to enrol in the program if you are a law graduate from a non-Australian law school or a legal practitioner admitted in a foreign jurisdiction.
Work experience placement is not a prerequisite for enrolment.
Advanced Standing
For undergraduate coursework, academic credit (advanced standing) may be granted for the unit Negotiation and Dispute Resolution in the subject Professional Skills if you have satisfactorily completed a similar course. To apply, complete and submit the Application for Advanced Standing Negotiation and Dispute Resolution.
For postgraduate coursework, credit may be granted where a subject was completed at another Australian or New Zealand practical legal training institution. To apply, submit a letter before course commencement with a subject outline for the course you undertook and an academic transcript which verifies completion of that subject to Student Services.
Admitting authorities require certain Practical Legal Training subjects to be completed at postgraduate level. Therefore, the College cannot exempt students from those subjects even if subjects with similar names were taken at undergraduate level.
For more information, please see the Program Manual.
Early Enrolments
The College may, in some circumstances, accept you into the Coursework Component even if you have further work to undertake by way of examination, assignment, submission of research paper or other, in order to complete a law qualification. To gain this permission, please submit with your Enrolment Form a written explanation detailing the outstanding work required and expected completion date.
Enrolments will be accepted in advance of results or evidence of your law degree. Please include a covering letter with your Enrolment Form, in which you undertake to submit a certified copy of your academic transcript or degree as soon as it becomes available.
Please note: Students undertaking the Victorian Practical Legal Training Program must have completed all elements of their law degree prior to commencement of the program and provide proof of completion to the College. For further information please contact Student Services.
For more information about Early Enrolments, please see the Program Manual.
