Practice Papers

The College of Law’s Practice Papers are an essential resource for new lawyers facing up to the challenges of practice in New Zealand.

The Practice Papers are procedural guides to key areas of legal practice in New Zealand. They are the fundamental resource for the College’s Professional Legal Studies Course.  The Practice Papers are written and maintained by the College's academic staff and expert practitioners from the legal profession.

The entire Practice Paper collection is published through the College of Law New Zealand's Wiki Based Site and hard copy sets are also available. All students undertaking the Professional Legal Studies Course with the College of Law receive a set of hard copy Practice Papers upon course commencement and have online access during their course.

The professional responsibility and accounting papers deal with the ethical standards, legislation, regulations and the written and unwritten rules that govern the practice of law. Other papers cover the skills essential to legal practice such as interviewing, advocacy, negotiation, drafting and work management. The remaining papers are guides for lawyers working in the core areas of:

• Employment

Access to the online subscriptions will be available at the commencement of the course.

A complete set of Practice Papers is provided to students undertaking the Professional Legal Studies Course.  Single volumes and complete sets may also be purchased directly from the College of Law.
